About Immanuel Bible College
Our History
Founded in 1951 in Sogod, Southern Leyte, Immanuel Bible College began as a vision of faith and obedience through the ministry of American Assemblies of God missionaries Rev. Edwin and Onieda Brengle.
Originally known as Immanuel Bible Institute, the school was established through a partnership between the Philippines General Council of the Assemblies of God and the American Assemblies of God Division of Foreign Missions, with the purpose of training men and women called to Christian ministry.
After a typhoon struck its original campus in 1953, the school relocated to Cebu City, strategically positioning itself to serve the Visayas and Mindanao regions more effectively.
In 1955, a permanent home was established on a two-hectare campus in Banawa Hills, Cebu City—where Immanuel Bible College continues to stand and grow today. In 1977, the institution transitioned from a Bible institute to a college, marking a significant milestone with the introduction of the Bachelor of Christian Ministries program.
As the College expanded its academic offerings, it received authorization from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) beginning in Academic Year 2005–2006 to offer a Bachelor of Arts in Theology, followed by programs in Music and Religious Education.
By 2009, all degree programs had been fully recognized by the CHED. Since its founding, Immanuel Bible College has produced more than a thousand graduates who now serve as pastors, educators, missionaries, and leaders in the Philippines and around the world—faithfully fulfilling its calling to equip and send Pentecostal leaders for ministry and missions.
